About The Jesse Katen School of Dance

The studio was founded in 2004 in Deposit, NY and held their first holiday recital in November of 2004 and
their first summer recital in June of 2005 at Deposit High School. The studio offered instruction in ballet, tap,
jazz, and hip-hop. Jesse opened the studio with a commitment to offering quality instruction and to instilling
both confidence and an appreciation for the arts in his students.

In August of 2011, the studio re-located to its present location on Clinton Street in Binghamton, NY. The
building had been the home of Lighthouse Productions Dance Studio.

Currently, classes are offered to students ages 3 to adult in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, pointe, stretch,
technique, acrobatics and contortion. The faculty consists of founder Jesse Katen and Vanessa Hierl. See
our faculty page for the teachers' biographies. Classes are available for a number of skill levels including
pre-dance, recreational, and competitive.

The Clinton Street facility includes two equipped studio classrooms with mirrors to facilitate instruction.

The studio continues its tradition of remaining a warm, positive, and encouraging space for aspiring dancers
of all ages. The studio's guiding philosophy is that the art of dance is unique in its ability to teach discipline,
reverence, confidence, and a sense of self-worth. Additionally, the studio "dance family" is kind and
supportive of each other, making The Jesse Katen School of Dance a rewarding and pleasant place to study
dance.
